Maahefun

The Holy month of Ramadan is a very special time for Muslims across the world and it’s a tradition in the Maldives for families and friends to gather and have a “Maahefun” before the start of the month.

“MOMS ANNUAL MAAHEFUN”: began in the year 2019, is an event held across the country where women can meet like-minded people, make new friends, and have an enjoyable time together.

During 2019, over 14 islands took part in this event with over 700 women, however, due to Covid-19 restrictions, in the following years 2020 and 2021, most islands exchanged food among one another as a way of participating in Maahefun. Only a few islands were able to hold a physical gathering as Maahefun in 2021.
