Ramadan is a month of reflection, gratitude, and giving. It is a time when communities come together to support those in need, and Moms Aid is proud to continue our annual Ramadan Aid campaign in 2023. Our mission is to provide “Care Baskets” filled with essential food staples to families living in impoverished conditions across the country.
Since 2020, we have been actively working towards alleviating the hardships faced by these families during the holy month of Ramadan. We understand the significance of this time and believe that everyone should have access to basic necessities, regardless of their circumstances.
This year, thanks to the generous support of our donors and partners, Dhiraagu, STO and Ooredoo, we have been able to provide aid to 371 families in need. These families come from various parts of the country, each facing their own unique challenges. By providing them with Care Baskets, we aim to lighten their burden and bring some comfort during this sacred time.
Our Care Baskets are carefully curated to include essential food items that can sustain a family throughout Ramadan. From rice and flour to cooking oil and milk, we ensure that these families have access to nutritious meals during Suhoor and Iftar. We also include other basic necessities, such as sugar, salt and some spices, to meet their daily needs.
Between March 16th and 18th, 2023, Moms Aid organized a packaging event for the Care packages where volunteers gathered to assemble and pack the essential food items into the Care Baskets. It was an incredible display of teamwork and community spirit as everyone came together to contribute their time and effort towards this noble cause. All the packages were distributed in the first 10 days of Ramadan.
In addition to the Care Baskets, we have also distributed 1519 Iftar packages throughout Ramadan, to families registered on our care list. These Iftar packages contain pre-prepared meals, allowing families to break their fast with a wholesome and satisfying meal. The distribution of Iftar packages was meticulously coordinated with our Island Administrators.
